This talk will cover two-phase designs and the analysis of data from these designs, with application to the rice breeding trials conducted in South Western New South Wales.
The two phases in this case are thus 1) the field trial in which the rice is grown and the rice yield is measured and 2) the milling process in which the rice quality measurements are taken. We present a comparison of the results obtained when milling samples are duplicated versus the old practice of unreplicated milling designs. A summary of the rice breeding process and how the results are then presented to the breeders will also be shown.
