Embedding solenoids into Euclidean space
by
David P. Bellamy
University of Delaware
Solenoid groups have been studied extensively since the 1920's. There are two conceptually quite different ways of constructing embeddings of these continua into Euclidean spaces of dimension 3 or greater. This talk will focus on the advantages and disadvantages of each of these techniques, and uses for each. Some unsolved problems will be presented, along with suggestions of how these methods might be helpful in addressing them.
