Joint maps and supratopolgies

The concept of joint maps is introduced as a weak form of adjoint maps (Galois connections, O. Ore). This concept is used to characterize the supratopologies (A. S. Mashhour) on a set X in the same way that the concept of adjoint maps characterizes the topologies on a set X.
