Applications of descriptive set theory to cardinal invariants
by
Jindrich Zapletal
University of Florida
I will give a brief overview of the connection between descriptive set theory and definable proper forcing and cardinal invariants, including the absoluteness theorems for Ciesielski-Pawlikowski type axioms, duality theorems, elimination of large cardinal assumptions using effective descriptive set theory, and some new examples of interesting forcing notions with non-set-theoretic motivation. I will present a new powerful preservation theorem for countable support iteration with descriptive set theoretic statement and proof.
