Assigning eigenvalues of a power sytem is of interest since it implicitly include Optimal powe flow(OPF).

Complex conjugate eigenvalues with negative real parts indicates that the power system can withstand small disturbances and is stable in the small signal sense. Three different assigning methods are presented in the paper. The first is based on optimal control techniques, the second is based on state feed back, and the third is based on selecting the controller that satisfies minimum sensitivity to parameter variations.
