Shock capturing for the nonlinear waves equation

In the paper we present some results concerning shock capturing for the nonlinear waves equations.The persistence of the shock by raport to the initial conditions in dimension 1 and 2 and some qualitative properties of the solutions for the nonlinear waves equations are studied.
