The study of delay differential equations is revived by new problems appearing in nonlinear optics and laser physics. We describe a Hopf bifurcation from infinity for a passive cavity subject to a delayed feedback and Hopf bifurcation bridges connecting isolated branches for semiconductor lasers subject to optical feedback. Analytical solutions are constructed by using singular perturbation techniques.
