Limit sets of planar vector fields and the vanishing set of inverse integrating factors

We show that, if an inverse integrating factor V(x, y) is defined on a neighborhood of a real singular point p of a C1 planar vector field X at which there is an elliptic or parabolic sector, then p is included in V-1(0). In addition, we study the relationship between compact w-limit sets of X and the set V-1(0).
