Applying Fuzzy Sliding Mode Controller Based on Genetic Algorithms to Building Structures

In this paper, the design of Fuzzy Sliding Mode Control (FSMC) based on Genetic Algorithms (GAs) is studied. Using the proposed approach, a robust controller is designed for building structures under earthquake excitation. In this paper, we design a fuzzy sliding mode controller for the building structure control system as an optimization problem and apply the optimal searching algorithms and GAs to find the optimal rules and membership functions of the FSMC. It is found that the building structure under the proposed control method could sustain in safety and stability when the system is subjected to external disturbances.
