Abstract clones
by
Péter P. Pálfy
Eötvös University, Budapest, Hungary

A systematic treatment of abstract clone theory was given by Walter Taylor at the 1991 summer school `Algebras and Orders' in Montreal. Abstract clones stand in the same relation to clones of operations as that of abstract groups to permutation groups. This language is particularly useful to deal with Malcev conditions. In the present talk I will take the viewpoint of abstract clones for investigating minimal clones.
