Automorphism groups of lattice type vertex operator algebras

We describe general structure results about automorphism groups of VOAs, especially lattice type VOAs, including the theory that an automorphism group of a finitely generated VOA is an algebraic group, the theory of framed VOAs and the associated frame stabilizers.
It is typically hard to determine automorphism groups of VOAs, even ones made from familiar VOAs. We review particular lattice type VOAs and analysis of their automorphism groups, including work on ranks 1 and 2 and on special higher ranks, mainly 8, 16, 24, 32. Nonassociative finite dimensional algebras frequently play a role.
