Utilizing a Robust Optimization Technique for Hydrodynamic Journal Bearing Systems

ABSTRACT: This paper utilizes a genetic algorithm suitable technique to find minimum oil film thickness as objective function for hydrodynamic journal bearings. The objective function subjects to radial clearance, eccentricity ratio, and circumferential coordinate which play an important role in the prediction of the dynamic behavior of the bearing system. The proposed technique is compared with a closed-form solution method. The main purpose of this study is to present an efficient optimization technique in the sense of easy utilization and short computation cost.
