When hereditary indecomposability together with the Souslin hypothesis implies metrizability
by
Michel Smith
Auburn University

We prove that if X is either the product of two Souslin arcs or an inverse limit lim{Si, fji}i=1 of Souslin arcs {Si}i=1, then every hereditarily indecomposable subcontinuum of X is metric. By a Souslin arc is meant a Hausdorff arc that is the compactification of a Souslin line.
