Gauld, Greenwood, and Piotrowski define that X is a Volterra space provided G \cap H is dense in X whenever G and H are dense G\delta-subsets of X. Obviously, any Baire space is a Volterra space, and Piotrowski asked whether the converse holds provided X is metrizable. In this paper, we answer that question affirmatively, investigate classes of spaces in which ``Volterra = Baire, '' and provide related examples, e.g., a linearly ordered, Lindelof, hereditarily paracompact space that is a Volterra space and yet is of first category in itself.
