On cancelling exponents of Posets

Let P and Q be ordered sets. Define QP to be the poset of order-preserving maps from P to Q, ordered pointwise. In 1942, Garrett Birkhoff conjectured the following: If P, Q and R are finite, non-empty posets such that QPis isomorphic to R^P, then Q is isomorphic to R
