Criteria for Finite Centralizers
by

Culler showed that a finite subgroup of Aut(Fn) (or Out(Fn)) can be realized by its action on a finite graph. Krsti\'c exploited this representation to show that centralizers of such subgroups are finitely presented. In this setting, I will provide criteria for these centralizers to be themselves finite. These criteria can also be used to address the equivalent question, recently answered by Pettet, of when the outer automorphism group of a free by finite group is finite.
