If the fundamental group of a 3-manifold acts non-trivially on an R-tree, then the manifold contains a measured lamination which has the given R-tree as space of leaves. Essential laminations (not necessarily measured) give rise to tree-like leaf spaces called order trees. We show that every group action on R of the fundamental group of an exceptional Seifert fibered space M corresponds to an action on the order tree determined by the space of leaves of a foliation on M.
