The Effects of Viscous Terms on Riemann Problem Solutions for Quadratic Conservation Laws
by
Jane H. Wenstrom
Mississippi University for Women

We study systems of two conservation laws with quadratic flux functions and Riemann initial data. We use the viscous profile criterion for shock admissibility. This criterion leads to the appearance of non-classical transitional shock waves, which are highly dependent on the form of the viscosity matrix. Our goal is to investigate how the structure of solutions of the Riemann problem is affected by the choice of viscosity matrix.
