Homogenization of Hamilton-Jacobi PDE and Hamiltonian ODE

I will discuss some recent work with D. Gomes concerning the ëffective Hamiltonian" associated with a given Hamiltonian which is periodic in the space varable. In particular I will explain the relationships with energy-minimizing trajectories in Hamiltonian dynamics.
