Automorphisms of formal power series rings over a valuation ring

The aim of this talk is to draw attention to equivalent formulations of assertions on the existence of prescribed finite order automorphisms of formal power series rings over a valuation ring. These suggest an alternative approach to studying the Oort conjecture on liftings of galois covers of smooth curves.
