Projective structures on complex curves, harmonic maps and laminations

We apply methods of theory of harmonic maps (namely, Hitchin equations) to investigation of projective structures on a complex compact curve. As a result we find some remarkable relations between harmonic maps, Strebel differentials and Thurston's approach to projective structures through geodesic mesured laminations.
