An Evolutionary Algorithm has been applied to aerodynamic optimization of a transonic wing for generic transport aircraft. To ensure reliability of the design, a three-dimensional Navier-Stokes solver is used to evaluate aerodynamic performance. To overcome enormous computational time necessary for the design, the computation is parallelized on Numerical Wind Tunnel at National Aerospace Laboratory in Japan, a parallel machine with 166 vector -processing elements.
