A Parallel Algorithm for Solving Sparse Linear Least Squares Problems
by
David Miron
University of New England

Sparse linear systems occur in areas such as finite element methods and statistics. Sparse linear systems can be large, requiring parallel computers to solve them. In this paper a parallel algorithm is presented for solving sparse linear least squares problems using the QR factorisation and a multifrontal method.
