Galerkin-characteristic Algorithm for The contaminant transport model in porous media of equilibrium and non-equilibrium adsorption

Abstract

We apply the method of characteristics to nonlinear convection diffusion problems in two dimensions with memory terms. The convergence of approximation scheme is proved without any regularity assumptions on the velocity field and on the solution. The results are supported by numerical experiments for contaminant transport with diffusion and non-equilibrium sorption isotherms.
