In the classical geometry of Banach spaces, the notions of strict and uniform convexity and the notion of modulus of convexity play a very important role and are used in many branches of functional analysis. In recent years, a lot of papers have appeared containing interesting generalizations of these notions in terms of measures of noncompactness. The modulus of noncompact convexity is defined with help of the concept of Kuratowski measure of noncompactness, and recently, by using the Hausdorff measure of noncompactness. The purpose of this paper is to calculate the modulus of noncompact convexity associated to the Hausdorff measure of noncompactness in the James space. Moreover, we give an estimate of the coefficient of noncompact convexity associated to the Kuratowski measure of noncompactness. (P)
