Whitney Preserving Functions
by

A continuous function f : X --> Y between continua is said to be Whitney preserving if there exist Whitney functions m : C(X) --> IR and n : C(Y) --> IR such that the image of Whitney levels under the induce map C(f) : C(X) --> C(Y) are Whitney levels (with respect to m and n). In this talk we consider the case when Y is a closed interval and we give conditions to X for f to be a homeomorphism.
