Analyticity on ergodic flows

In old work on analyticity on the flows on a compact abelian group whose dual is contained in R, it was noted that the results might be extended to flows of general type. This paper is devoted to that program. Some interesting difficulties appear; otherwise there would not be much interest in such an extension.
