Free entropy and free diffusion
by
Roland Speicher
University of Heidelberg

Free entropy - which is of great relevance for a better understanding of the structure of operator algebras related to free groups - has a quite probabilistic flavour and behaves in some respects in an analogous way to classical entropy. In my talk I will try to give some idea of the concept of free entropy and its different aspects; in particular, I want to explain its relation with free diffusion.
