Homomorphisms of uniform algebras
by

The talk will survey some results on homomorphisms of uniform algebras. It will focus on the Kamowitz-Klein theorem on compact homomorphisms, and also on composition operators on algebras of analytic functions. Sample theorem: If A(D) is the continuous-boundary-value algebra associated with a bounded domain D in the complex plane, then any weakly compact homomorphism of A(D) to a uniform algebra is compact.
