The polynomial functions of certain algebras.

Given a universal algebra A, we are interested in describing the polynomial functions on A. We show techniques that yield a description of polynomial functions for certain classes of algebras in congruence permutable varieties; these classes include, in particular, the (non-solvable) special and general linear groups, and certain semidirect products of groups.
