During the last decade the use of Fourier descriptors of shape are studied for analyzing the outlines of biological shapes. However, the use of wavelets for such analyses seems yet to be discovered. Obviously, the literature on comparison of the analyses(results) obtained by using the Fourier descriptors and wavelet descriptors for the same outline data is absent. In this paper, the shapes of the pronasale cross-sections for human subjects are analyzed using the Fourier and wavelet descriptors. Further, the comparison of these descriptors as possible tools for clustering the cross-sections is provided using the data for the above mentioned cross-sections.
