by
J. Gani
School of Mathematical Sciences,Australian National University

The model used for infections due to needle sharing among intravenous drug users (IVDUs) is a random allocation model. A method of deriving the probabilities of new infections, due to i infectives sharing needles with n susceptibles, is described.

The problem of heterogeneous susceptibles and infectives is also considered, and some preliminary results discussed.
