A Study on Analysis of Covariance Technique
by

Analysis of covariance combines two widely used and applicable procedures known as regression and analysis of variance. The estimation and testing of hypothesis of different parameters in this case of analysis of covariance involving more than one concomitant variable has been made. The average variance for the difference between the pairs of treatment means is derived for the general case, assuming that the concomitant variables are mutually independent. The efficiency of the analysis of covariance over the corresponding analysis of variance is also derived.

The analysis of covariance of a situation, when the concomitant variable showed a quadratic relationship with the main character has been derived. The variance of the estimates of the different regression coefficients are also derived. A general case of analysis of covariance under the situation, when the concomitant variable showed a ‘n’ degree polynomical relationship with the main character under study is derived. The average variance for the difference between the pairs of treatment means is worked out. The efficiency of this type of analysis of covariance over the analysis of variance is also derived for the general case.
