Visualising data
by
Harold Henderson

Powerful new methods of data visualisation, together with modern computing environments, have combined to produce a new frontier of data analysis. Visualisation tools provide deep insight into the structure of data. There are graphical tools such as dynamic graphics and trellis display. There are fitting tools such as loess. I’ll illustrate some visualisation tools that I find useful. This approach to data analysis stresses the use of visualisation to thoroughly study the structure of data and to check the validity of statistical models fitted to data.
