A few years ago, in order to deal with a problem in the application of twistor theory to curved space-times, Sparling introduced p-forms, where p can be negative. The algebra and calculus of these generalized exterior forms have recently been developed. This talk will provide an introduction to generalized forms. It will include a discussion of Cartan's structure equations and generalized connections. Generalized (Hodge) star-, codifferential- and Laplace-operators will also be defined. A number of applications to physical systems, including general relativity, will be outlined.
