The presence of genotype x environment interaction is a common feature of yield trial data. Stability variance is the measure estimating variance components, attributable to the interaction of a single cultivar. In crop variety testing, it is frequently of interest to estimate measures of yielding stability or phenotypic stability. These studies generally consist of a several genotypes, tested over a wide range of environments. Preliminary testing for any difference in genotypes should proceede pooling stability data from all the environments in the analysis. This paper present an approach for a preliminary testing of genotypes by pooling data.
