AgSurf, farm surveys data on the Web

ABARE’s new data delivery package “AgSurf” was released in October 2001. AgSurf is an interactive web package that provides free access to a high quality research database of farm performance in Australia. Users can choose variables from a wide range of physical, financial and socioeconomic variables as well as information on farm, management practices and farm performance measures. They can also choose to have the results for a single year or time series and have them displayed in tabular or graphical form. All estimates are available at national, state, zone and regional level and their associated “RSE” value. AgSurf is now available at http://agsurf.abareconomics.com . I was responsible for the design and development of AgSurf since October 2000. My talk will include some issues (statistical and other) about the development process and a short demonstration of AgSurf.
