Open Mappings Between Dendrites
by

It is known that any open map f: [0, 1] --> [0, 1] is an n-fold, i.e the space [0, 1] can be divided into n subsets 0 = x0 < x1 < ... < xn-1 < xn = 1 in such a way that the map f restricted to any set [xi, xi+1] is a homeomorphism. Easy examples show that this result, as stated, cannot be generalized to open mappings between dendrites. In this talk we present an appropiate generalization for such maps.
