Minimal Jacobi geodesics in some mechanical systems with singular potentials.

We show the existence of non-collision trajectories connecting any two positions of a particle moving on the plane under the influence n fixed gravitating masses. We will also give a brief account of related constructions in the Newtonian 3-body problem, their use in finding periodic orbits, and possible extensions.
