Categorical Completeness: Surprises and Difficulties
by

Given a category with a notion of embedding, it is possible to define what the complete objects should be and to ask whether all objects have completions. For the categories of T0 spaces and T0 uniform spaces (both with the usual embeddings) one gets the sober spaces and the complete spaces, respectively. We survey some of what is known in this area.
In the case of T0 bitopological spaces we look at both a known self-dual result and a new non-self-dual approach, with a view toward finding other non-self-dual bitopological applications.
