The gamma element for discrete groups which admit a uniform embedding into Hilbert space

N. Higson showed that, for countable groups which are amenable at infinity (equivalently: which are exact), the Baum-Connes map with coefficients is split injective. More generally, the same holds for countable group G which admit a uniform embedding into Hilbert space. In this paper, we generalize this result by showing that such groups admit a gamma element in the sense of Kasparov, \gamma in KKG(C, C).
