Extension of Menger-Urysohn addition theorem to stratifiable spaces
by
Vera Tonic
University of Zagreb, Department of mathematics

The classical Menger-Urysohn addition theorem states that, given two subsets A and B of a metrizable space, we have dim(A \cup B) <= dimA + dimB +1. Jerzy Dydak's generalisation was following: given two subsets A and B of a metrizable space, and two CW-complexes K and L such that K in AE(A) and L in AE(B), we have K*L in AE(A \cup B). We generalise this further using stratifiable spaces instead of metric ones. The class of stratifiable spaces lies between paracompact and metric spaces.
