Visualising electricity supply data
by
Ray Lindsay
ABARE
The National Electricity market operates in South East mainland Australia. The operation of the market results in vast amounts of data, including supply curves for each generator for each half hour. The supply curve for the market is a price ordered aggregation of the supply curves for each generator. In this talk a way of visualising the distribution of market supply curves over a period of, say a month will be demonstrated. Such distributional plots could be useful in explaining some of the variability that is observed in prices achieved in the electricity market. All of the data in this talk are in the public domain at www.nemmco.com.au
