Australian Bureau of Statistics
Traditionally the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has disseminated its statistics through paper-based products. With the advent of the Internet, ABS is committed to using the information highway for more cost effective dissemination of its statistics. This paper will give an overview of ABS' dissemination strategies and, where possible, compares the ABS practice with overseas statistical agencies. It will also portray the ABS vision for disseminating statistics using the Internet and outline the challenges it faces in cost effectively disseminating statistics this way.
