Testing for the presence of a QTL

The basic approaches to QTL analysis will be outlined. The regression method will be discussed with regard to testing for the presence of a QTL in an interval defined by two markers. The test is non-standard if estimation of the location of the QTL is included as in Whittaker, Thompson and Visscher (1996, Heredity 77, 23-32). Properties of the test will be presented.
