Delivery of decision support model results over the web for the insurance industry

Many businesses operate in a distributed manner, with operational decision making staff being located in a range of offices or in the field. Over the last several years advanced data mining techniques have generated models that have provided significant improvements in the capacity to detect, predict and describe important financial attributes of customers and suppliers. An example of one such attribute in the workers compensation arena is the likelihood that employers are under-insured, not paying adequate premium to cover the liability that they represent. Such models combine large amounts of data and convert it into a single score that informs a decision such as whether an investigation is required. Since such decisions may be made by staff in a range of locations, with different IT systems, delivery of such business knowledge over the web represents a key approach to making important, targeted, high volume decisions which ultimately increase revenue and decrease costs.
