A simplicial complex is 6-systolic if the systole of the link of any simplex is at least 6. This simple, combinatorial, readily checkable, condition has many consequences similar to CAT(0) condition.
I will discuss the basic properties of 6-systolic spaces, their constructions and relation to CAT(0) and CAT(-1) spaces.
A prominent role in the construction plays another simple condition on a 6-systolic space X, which implies the fundamental group of X is residually finite.
