Modules over residuated lattices

Previous researchers have investigated the concept of a module action by a quantale on a complete lattice. Such structures provide a suitable algebraic framework in which to study recognizable languages - languages recognizable by finite state automata. Here we consider the possiblilty of extending these ideas by letting the scalars come from an arbitrary residuated lattice and replacing the complete lattice by a join semilattice.
