by

Inverse limits of branched one-manifolds were first used by R. F. Williams to model the nonwandering set of a hyperbolic system. We examine neighborhoods in such an inverse limit space that are homeomorphic to the product of a zero-dimensional set and an arc. More interestingly, under quite general conditions, points that have no such neighborhood are characterized.
