Controlled topology and geometric groups

This will be a description of some methods and results of controlled algebra and topology designed to suggest possible interactions with geometric group theory. In particular there will be a discussion of the flow techniques of Farrell and Jones, and their "isomorphism conjecture" and generalizations.
